Brand Milwaukee Part I: Who Gets to Tell the City’s Story?

(Narrative Power)

Moderated by Shannon Sims

Brand Milwaukee Part I explores how stories about Milwaukee are created, circulated, and reinforced—and who gets to shape them.

This Civic Studios conversation examines questions of representation, authorship, and narrative control. Whose voices define the city’s image? Which communities are amplified, and which are overlooked? How do media, marketing, and institutions influence public perception?

Through guided discussion and audience engagement, panelists will reflect on how narrative power impacts culture, opportunity, and belonging—and how creatives can play a more active role in shaping inclusive and authentic city stories.

This forum is designed for creatives, media professionals, cultural organizers, and community members interested in storytelling as a tool for civic engagement and change.

Panelists include:

· Gary Witt, PTG Live

· Adam Carr, Independent Journalist/historian

· Genyne Edwards, P3

· Jimmy Gutierrez, WUWM
